Janmashtami is observed with great fervor throughout the country. Apart from various rituals and customs, on the birthday of Lord Krishna, all his ****ees prepare various kinds of sweets and dairy products towelcome him. One of the most commonly prepared dairy products on this day is the kheer. Prepared from rice and condensed milk, it is certainly an extremely luscious item. It is not very difficult to prepare kheer, neither does it consume a lot of time. In case, you also want to please Lord Krishna by offering him this scrumptious sweet dish this Janmashtami, the recipe is given below. Read on and know how to make it.

Kheer Recipe

*. 5 cups Milk
*. 1/2 cup Long-grained rice
*. 2 tbsp Almond powder
*. 1 tsp Cardamom powder
*. A pinch of Saffron
*. 1 tin Condensed milk
*. Sugar to taste


*. Cook rice in a pressure pan with enough water, till soft. Drain and mash.
*. Heat milk to a thick and creamyconsistency.
*. Add condensed milk, mashed rice, sugar, almond powder, cardamom powder and saffron.
*. Cook till creamy.
*. Serve hot with puris.
